Joint launches
- Before launching your boat, mark your cradle's settings and the positions of any support blocks. Take a photo as a reminder, for example. Also mark the positions of the lifting slings.
- Notify the harbour captain at least a week in advance if you will not attend the boat launch day you registered for.
- Arrive on time; launches and haul-outs usually start at 8:00. The crane arrives at the shore about half an hour earlier, so the first boat is already lifted at around 8:00.
- Report to the lift supervisor in good time. Follow the progress of the lifts actively, as the lifting order may change considerably for various reasons.
- Attach lines about 15 m long to the bow and stern, used to guide the boat during the launch/lift.
- Once the boat is in the water, quickly check that the hull through-fittings are watertight, after which the lifting slings can be removed and the crane can go to fetch the next boat. When your boat is in its place, you can go and help launch the following boats.
- Dismantle your cradle and clean up your hard-standing place! If you move your cradle yourself to the storage place designated for cradles, you do not have to take part in the spring cradle working bee. If you do not attend the cradle working bee for that reason, inform the guard chief.
- NOTE! THE CRADLE MUST SHOW THE BOAT'S NAME!
Joint haul-outs
- Notify in good time, preferably before September, if you want to change the haul-out day you registered for.
- At the autumn cradle working bee you will see your upcoming hard-standing place. All boaters who store ashore must take part in the autumn cradle working bee!
NOTE! At the cradle working bee you do not assemble/dismantle your own cradle! - The boat's mast must be removed before the haul-out. In spring and autumn, a joint mast raising / lowering is organised with a mobile crane. Participation / booking a slot is done in the booking calendar on KoPu's website. Read these instructions: "Instructions for lowering a mast"
- Assemble your cradle in good time, at the latest the day before the haul-out. Check the condition of the bolts etc. and treat them with penetrating oil!
- Make sure all the cradle's settings are correct and that the support blocks etc. are within reach. (For instance from the photo you took in the spring)
- Have ready the necessary tools, in case the cradle's settings need fine-tuning.
- Make sure the boat is ready for lifting. Attach lines about 15 m long to the bow and stern, used to guide the boat during the lift.
Follow the progress of the lifts actively, as the lifting order may change. - Bring your boat close to the lifting dock as your turn approaches, so that you can come alongside as soon as the previous boat is lifted.
In even-numbered years, launches and haul-outs start from the southern edge of the hard-standing area!
In odd-numbered years, they start from the northern edge!
